At Michigan State University, we appreciate the significant role every educator plays. Here, "educator" encompasses more than just classroom instructors. It includes anyone contributing to teaching, learning, student success, and outreach. This includes Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Assistants, instructional designers, academic advisors, librarians, coaches, MSU Extension educators, and more.

Why Celebrate Educators?

The "Thank an Educator" initiative, part of the #iTeachMSU Commons since 2018, highlights the diverse roles educators play. It encourages individuals to recognize their contributions to MSU and embrace their educator identity. Most importantly, it celebrates those who shape learning experiences and contribute to student success.

How to Thank an Educator

Recognizing someone for their educational impact is easy:

  1. Visit the #iTeachMSU Thank an Educator page.
  2. Fill out a short form with a gratitude statement.
  3. The #TeachMSU team will send a thank you email to your selected educator.
  4. Nominated educators receive recognition through the #iTeachMSU Educator Award from the Provost’s Office annually.

Everyone at MSU is welcome to participate, and there is no limit to how many educators you can thank.
