Dr. Marcio Oliveira brings over 25 years of experience as an educator, researcher, and academic administrator. With a distinguished record of pioneering technology-enhanced teaching and learning, he now assumes the role of MSU’s Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning Innovation. His appointment follows a rigorous national search and marks a bold step forward for an institution committed to transforming education through strategic, collaborative, and technology-driven initiatives.

Earning his Ph.D. from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, he has built a career that spans continents, research disciplines, and administrative leadership. “Education thrives at the intersection of innovation and equity, empowering faculty and learners to cocreate the future of society,” he notes.
Before joining MSU, Dr. Oliveira advanced impactful initiatives at the University of Maryland, where he bridged academic and technological landscapes to drive comprehensive change.
